Career Fairs' Success Links Directly to Quality Students

by Don Lubach, Associate Director,
Career Services

Career Services proudly hosted two career fairs this October in the Corwin Pavilion. The events, open to all majors, brought the population of the UCen's largest room right up to its capacity with students wearing suits and employers collecting resumes for soon-to-graduate Gauchos.

What the readers of Explorations might not know is the specific, positive feedback we got from the company recruiters. "We love your students," we were told by one recruiter, "I'll be at another school in Southern California tomorrow and I am not looking forward to their fair after this" remarked a recruiter for a national corporation. We ask the recruiters what they like about Gauchos and they appreciate how they  reflect the wide-range of courses they take in addition to their commitments to campus organizations, social groups, and career-related work.

Another thing that your readers might not know is that many of the recruiters hold Bachelors and Graduate degrees from our campus. They like coming back to where they earned their degree armed with invitations to the working world.

Without our fine students, these employers would have no reason to attend our fairs and participate in our Campus Interview Program.
