Academic and Majors Faire
Last year's Academic and Majors Faire took place on a beautiful summer afternoon on the front lawn of the San Nicolas Dormitory.
Representatives from all of UCSB's colleges and academic departments could be found seated at tables behind signs representing their departments; they answered the questions of eager UCSB students trying to decide which direction to take their studies and ultimately what profession to undertake. One of thoese department representatives, Sonya Baker of Chicana and Chicano Studies said, "The Academic and Majors Fair is always exciting because it gives me an opportunity to interact directly with incoming freshmen who are always enthusiastic and full of good questions. It is a very rewarding experience."
Mike Tucker, History's student advisor had this take on the event, "The Academic advising fair is one of the best opportunities for student to learn about different majors. Most of the majors offered on campus are in a central location awaiting student inquiries. It's an advising opportunity that shouldn't be missed."
And from Eric Zimmerman, Evironmental Studies advisor, "I look forward to this event every year as it offers a buffet style opportunity for students, both declared majors as well as those who are still undecided, to shop around for information and talk with specific department representatives."
This year's Academic and Majors Faire will take place on:
Monday, August 17 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on the San Miguel Dormitory Lawn
Don't miss it!
